  1. fluorescent lights will work just  fine. most plants will need at least 8 hours of light.

  2. Absolutely!!!!

I use a warm and a cool in a 4' fixture.  I use it to start my seeds too.

Works awesome with African Violets too.

I only use it for 12-13 hrs a day - they do have to sleep too.

Any annuals or perennials or houseplant - even fruit and veggies that require sun or shade will do very well in florescents

  3. I use florescent lights in the winter. Hang about 12" from  top of tallest plant and using a timer for 14-16 hours a day doesn't allow me to forget to turn on/off. Setting the time for overnight works great too. Don't forget to mist plants to keep humidity up.

  4. I give my plants 16 hours of light a day..I have my winter plants starting under lights right now..everything in my garden is started indoors then transplanted outside..
