Really, should I even bother anymore to get rid of this potbelly or just accept me as I am? It would be nice to not have it, but at 44 who am I kidding??

  1. You should get rid of the gut because the fat tissue in your abdominal cavity is thought of as being toxic to your health. You will increase your possibility of having diabetes and being overweight will impact your ability to sleep soundly and you will have more of a potential for cardiac and hypertension problems. I am older than you and have been successful in reducing both my gut and my weight by using something called Byetta. My diabetic endocrinologist prescribed it for me. I have just recently been diagnosed as Type 2 diabetes because of weight that has accumulated on my gut.

I must lose 20 pounds and am halfway there. Every morning before breakfast I give myself a shot in the abdominal wall with a needle that has Byetta in it. Since the needle is very small it does not hurt. I take a second shot before dinner also. The Byetta has cut back my desire to eat and I am dropping pounds quickly and I am  not hungry as I have been before. My glucose also is dropping but my morning glucose has not fallen back into the normal range yet.

So to answer you question: In my personal opinion you will live longer and have a healthier life if you get rid of you belly fat.

Hope you give it a shot (No pun intended)

  2. Yes you should bother.  You will feel better both physicaly and mentally.

And it isn't  too late.  Ride a bike, swim laps, run.  Maybe lift some weights.  Go ice skating.

You can work it off and have fun at the same time.

Three things are my main cardio....Skating (I play hockey), Swimming, and Kayaking (rowing...sorta).

  3. your not old. i,am older then you but i dont have a big gut. watch what you eat and how much, exercise and stay away from the beer.

  4. i'ts never too late, and if it's going to make you feel better about yourself go for it. you sound like you think 44 is old and it's not,it's just a number.
