I went out to get one male betta for my 5 Gal tank. Well of course I saw the CUTEST tiny female ever. She is a Green Cambodian crown tail with big back eyes. I fell in love. But I already have 5 girls in my 36 Gal sorority tank. I also found a nice male He's like a gun metal green butterfly delta tail. I have never seen a betta this color I think it might be called copper.

I Ended up with the little female and the copper Delta male. So now I have 6 female in my 36 Gal community tank and another male in his own tank. I have a dark turquoise crown tail in a 2.5 Gal tank.

That a total of 8 betta fish. I think I'm addicted. I just can't say no to these little fish. My fiancee thinks I am crazy but I just love them.

I love bettas because for being so small they have big personality. They are beautiful, come in so many colors and shapes. They do well as only fish. Easy to care for. So much fun to watch because they are so curious. I love how they flare up when excited. They make me smile and I think they have cute little faces.

My females are a purple, redpurple, steel blue, 2 red Cambodian one crown tail, and Green Cambodian crown tail. My males are a Dark Turquoise crown tail and my new greenish Copper Delta tail.

I have been keeping bettas for over 10 years now. My oldest I had for 5 years old.

How many bettas do you have?

What kind color / finage?

How long have you been keeping betta fish?

Are addicted to bettas too?

Why do you love bettas?

  1. I have two Bettas currently, one red dragon halfmoon in a 30 gallon community tank, and a blue butterfly halfmoon in his own pimped-out 5 gallon tank. :)

I've had Bettas for a long time though. I remember the first one I bought was through a swap meet while I was looking for a birthday present to my mom when I was 8 (I'm 20 years old), I think I bought the betta with a bowl and a bow for around $5 dollars. I'm the only one who paid attention to the betta though :)

Eventually I learned more about proper housing after suspecting that bettas liked  to actually swim around their houses, so I then I started filling up a bookcase in the living room with 2.5 gallon betta tanks, which I had for years. The bettas lasted for a long time, I recall my oldest being around 6 years?

When I moved out of my mom's house, I gave her my bettas so she could keep them in the meanwhile, and alas, they didn't last two weeks with her. :( I'm happy with my bettas in their tanks now though, maybe someday I'll get a long divided aquarium where I can keep bettas of all types and of all colors in side. :)

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to bettas, but I love the fish -- what other freshwater fish has the finnage, attitude, and so many types of coloration and fin types? Bettas, with the proper care and environment, will LOVE you and they're one of the best pets to have around. :) I hate seeing them misjudged as psychotic killer fish who love to live in bowls where they can't even move -- they DESERVE much better treatment.

  2. I have 6 bettas

2 veil tail males, 1 is deep blue and 1 has a dark greenish purple body with purple and white fins.

2 crown tail males, 1 is dark blue with red fins, 1 has a medium blue body and yellow fins with blue tips.

1 veil tail female, she is light purple with darker purple fins.

My betta that just died was a male crown tail and had a light redish yellow body and light blue fins (guess I have a thing for blue in bettas). I have been keeping them for almost 2 years now. I would definitely say I am addicted to them, and working at a pet store doesn't help. Lol. Lets just say that before I started working at Petco, I had 1 betta. In the 6 months that I have been working there, I have bought 5 bettas and am planning to get another female soon (I don't know which type I will get yet).

I love bettas because they are easy to care for compared to other fish (I also have different tetras, harlequin rasboras, tiger barbs, cory catfish, and a comet goldfish. About 25 fish in all, including bettas) and I love how colorful and diverse they are! :) It is also fun to watch them.

  3. i just like them

but i like my other ones better

    i have platties and mollies

    and i have baby turtles

  4. Bettas are my favorites, paradise fish second. I have had bettas for about 8 to 9 years. My oldest one, a male betta, died in march, but he lived a long life of 8 years. I currently have 4 males and 1 female. My oldest one now is 4, a blue male with a black eyes. A 3 year old pure orange male, a 2 year old peach male with purple fins, A young 1 year old mirror tint blue male, and a turquoise/green female that's about 1 and a half. I love bettas and I do think I may be addicted to them as I keep thinking "What color should I get next?" I love their personalities, I've taught them all tricks. They can jump for food, follow my finger, swim through a hoop for food, they are just awesome.

  5. i love bettas but have only one. i rescued jim from petco, where he had very severe tail rot, and was in a little cup. he used to be a dull grey, with brownish fins and alittle bit of dull blue on the body.   he now has no tail rot and is beautiful!!   look what alittle bit of tlc can do for a betta!! his only issue is that he picked up tail bitting while in the store with tail rot, and still eats his tail, no matter how healthy he is.

ive been keeping bettas for about seven yrs now.

i cant say that im addicted to bettas, but i also cant say i am not... my first chose of fish is always a betta, and i always have one, but i never have more than one. i always have just one, and i spoil it.

i love bettas because they are very hardy, beautiful, unique, fiesty, and this is one of the few fish that truly do have personalities.

  6. I'm not addicted to Betta's but i have lots because i don't like the way they are kept in pet shops, I would have about 9 males inside and maybe 200 mixed sexes outside in a large pond, they breed in there and they just keep breeding, sometimes i scoop some out just to see what colours they have turned out and there is some very strange colours you don't see in shops often like different purples/mauve's and weird Greens. I do like how they have different personalities.

  7. I used to be addicted to them .

I had like 200  1 gallon tanks all over my house with an oxygen pump in it , and all 200 of them were male , but one day the electricity went out and they all died , they were all exotic colors from electric blue to neon pink ( i had like 80 different colors ) haha

Now i'm addicted to guppies , i buy them every week at the fish market and i'm going there like every week ,

The only bettas  i have  are these ones -

    1 week

    yes

    cos they look so cool

  9. I have 0

My old One was  Black/Blue with a veil tail.

My only Betta lasted three years.

    Yes.

They really brighten up a tank. Also very fun to watch.

My Betta died last month and want to get a new one. My 10 gallon has since become a home for cherry shrimp and Tetra's though. I'm looking to get a small 3/5 eclipse setup but they cost so much for such small tanks..

  10. Currently I'm at 10.

I've got 3 CT males, 2 Veiltail males, 1 super delta male, 1 halfmoon male, 1 plakat male, 1 VT female, and 1 delta female.

Three of mine are black bodied with red and blue highlights, 1 is fuschia with some blue and white in the fins, 1 is orange with red dalmation spts, 1 white marbled, 1 is a light baby blue, and the HM is a metallica green color

About a year, they are really addictive

Why? Why not!  They have character, come in sooo many diffrent colors, shapes, patterns, etc. and are just fun little fish, whats not to like?
