Question:

I'm afraid for the dogs!?

I just joined this website today, and I've already seen some people give some bad, even dangerous, answers! Is there any way I can notify the person that asked the question not to follow the advice, without being rude and pointing someone out?

Thanks so much! I don't think I could live with myself if I let this keep happening. I wouldn't want someone's dog hurt because of this.

  1. See if the site provides information that can get him to talk to u via e-mail or phone calls.

If that doesnt work, just point it out. You may embarrass the person, but you save a dog's life. (but try not to point out the name, try just mentioning what not to do)

  2. You can point out what you think is wrong without pointing the person out.  Who cares if it sounds rude?  There are ways of putting things in a polite manner.  If they want to get offended, so what?  The purpose of posting a question is to get an answer for a problem which does require different answers/opinions from others.  If someone cannot handle it, then maybe they shouldn't post here.

  3. You can click on the person's avatar and see if they allow e-mail.  Then you can send a message directly to the asker without anyone else seeing what you say.  I once did that after a question had already gone to vote and people could no longer answer.  Even though I didn't get any points for it, I thought I should give the information I had.

  4. Just vote those answers down.  You can answer by saying I disagree with...... and then give your answer.  Its not rude to specify an answerer you disagree with as long as you do it nicely.

  5. As long as you have proper documentation and know for a fact that someone elses' advice is dangerous, say so - it's for the good of the dogs and their owners, and I never let politeness stand in my way.

Many people think they know what they are talking about - all the more reason to take with a grain of salt any advice you get for free - but if someone is on here doing something dangerous, you will hear it from me - immediately, and in BIG LETTERS.

I will always be the first to admit if I am wrong, and learn a new trick, but also the first to look stuff up in the same sites and books vbets use, so that is what gets posted - the best we know.  Just remember that most people are trying to be helpful, and we can all be subject to getting some wrong information, sooner or later.

  6. Yea when your answering a question just add in there, Hey don't follow (insert user name here)'s advice its not very good advice.

  7. some people on here dont know wat they talkin about some do  just if u dont like the answer  thumbs down if u like thumbs up  if u hav a prob with some body click thier profile see if they answer emails..  thers alot of very stupid and idiot answers all the time.. and lots of rude people on here they need hooked on phonics.

  8. its not rude just give them a thumb down or like the first person said

  9. Usually abusing a dog is illegal, if there is anyway to report them to the site or to anyone that will do anything then do it! I know this sounds stupid, but i wish that for anyone that is about to abuse an animal break their legs first or drop dead.

  10. Nah just get used to it.  People claim to be vets.  People give bad advice every day all day.  It's an open forum.  That's the way it is and you just have to take it for what it is and hope people realize that and  take the best advice and just use the advice they get as a reference.

  11. Just give your honest answer and back up with any experience or qualification and you will be taken seriously.

  12. Just give them a thumbs down [:

But first you need to get to level 2 to do that, so start answering ! :D

  13. you can answer the question.  If you know certain advice is dangerous you can provide information as to why that advice is dangerous.  Dont call out the members name..  but for example you see someone say "give it tylenol"..  you can answer with "do not give your dog medication unless directed by a vet, many medications may be toxic to dogs".. you can even provide a link if you want regarding tylenol being toxic to back up your answer.

Do give the best advice you can for the answer.

Some people allow email..  you can email the person if they do.  Click on their icon to go to their page, if they allow email there is a link to click that says "email (username)"
