  1. The coastal Caribbean cities have the largest black populations, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Santa Marta, barranquilla being the largest with under 2 Million residents.

bogota, medellin and cali also have good sized black populations so you wouldnt stick out like a sore thumb at all.

Have a good time and try to learn as much spanish as you can because many people don't speak english.

  2. Cali is the best option if you want to meet more colombo-africans. Cartagena, Barranquilla and probably Santa Marta are really good options too...Bogota, well, you will find many people from everywhere, Bogota has a great system in everything, specially in transportation. Shakira is from Barranquilla but i dont know...i would say cali anyways...near cali, there is buenaventura, it is pretty much an latin african community... Cali is a party city, so it will be the best option. Good luck, i am jelaous because i want to move back to Colombia...but enjoy my beautiful country

  3. It depends on what you like, Bogota is the main city, so you can find there everything you may need, the embassy is there, so it's a good place, it's a little cold, people are friendly, try to move to the north side, is safer and nicer. Medellin, Cali, Bucaramanga, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Armenia, are good places too, none of them are cold.

This link is foe travelers,  but you may find what you're looking for.

  4. IN BARRANQUILLA THE CITY OF SHAKIRA, IT IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL CITY THE PERSONS ARE VERY AGREEABLE AND THERE IS A VERY BIG AFRICAN AMERICAN POPULATION AS CARTAGENA AND CALI IS CITIES THAT ARE ECONOMICALLY WELL AND ARE VERY CALM; BUT ANY CITY IS GOOD IN COLOMBIA.

  5. hey i'm african-american and i'm living in Venezuela right now and have visited Colombia abt 4 or 5 times while i've been here.  Cali is a town in Colombia that has a lot of black people in it ,but my recommendation would be Bogota and here's why.  Bogota is the capital of Colombia and a huge tourist city so u won't feel completely lost.  There is an American Embassy there so if something bad goes down u're very close to help.  If u move to a smaller town everyone will stare at u like u're an alien because they just aren't used to seeing people from the states (gringos as they say) especially African-Americans!  And in a big city like Bogota the girls will be a lot more open to interracial dating, while in the smaller cities the girls generally like to stick with their latin counterparts.  I made the mistake of moving to a small town and i stick out like a sore thumb... so the next time i'm here i'll live in a bigger city.

But there are con's to living in a bigger city too.  Things are much, much, more expensive and u can't just trust any one, but if u bring a substancial amount of money and watch ur back.... u should be great.  And u'll learn a ton of Spanish!!

  6. good to visit, might not be good to move there.  But Cartegena was a good spot.

  7. Your best bet is Bogota or Medellin. They seem to be the safest.

  8. Barranquilla or Cartagena. You got the right idea pal
