Question:

I'm always tired, but I get enough sleep

I get at least nine hours of sleep a day, and from when I wake up until I go back to bed, I feel extremely exhausted and unmotivated. I don't understand why, considering that I'm at a pretty young age, and it shouldn't be a chore to get up and walk across the room. What can I eat or do to make myself have more energy?

  1. The average person really only needs 6 hours of sleep to function at their best.It was once thought that 8 hours was the ultimate but that has been found to be false.Cut your sleep to 6 hours a night. It will take about a week but the LAG will start to go away.Energy makes energy.Too much sleep can cause lag just like not enough.Make sure you are excercising. You dont have to work out but at least do something to the equivelent of walking two miles each day.If the lag continues or is too much go see your doctor and have a CBC done.

  2. My daughter started doing this about 3 months ago and a trip to the doctor proved she had mono (which you get from sharing drinks, makeup, kissing, anything that trades saliva.)  Treatment for that involves monitoring and getting that rest.  Low iron in your blood ( anemia) is another possibility.  If it's been going on long enough for you to be concerned please see a doctor or at least start w/ the school nurse.

You know best how you SHOULD feel.  I tried to treat a chronic cough by myself back in high school w/ store medicine and my parents caught on. They took me to the MD and I had pneumonia.  Don't self-treat.

  3. I used to find out that TOO MUCH sleep made me very tired. I do very well with 6.5 hours up to 8 hours, but anything more than that and I'm very tired for hours after getting up.

  4. you might be anaemic

  5. There could be a number of reasons for your fatigue. Are you stressed out about something? How's your diet? Do you get enough protein? You need a balanced diet with fruits vegetables and PROTEIN. Try to push yourself a little at a time to get some exercise that should help. Good luck with it. I've gone through it before and hate that feeling.

  6. well it sounds to me like you have anemia which is caused by a lack of iron in your diet. The main food you can eat to prevent anemia is red meat but i would suggest you go and see your gp and he will do a blood test to make sure you have anemia and then if you do he will prescribe iron tablets. My cousin had it after she took her iron tablets she was bouncing away as usual! hope this helps

  7. you might have something called sleep apnea, its where you stop breathing when you sleep, you should go to the doctor and they will set you up with something called a sleep study to see if you have it

  8. Sugar!  Eat some candy to wake you up...Just a little bit.

but sometimes that can lead to depression...

So you should see a therapist or a doctor.

    Good Luck!
