I'm sixteen and sleep with a teddy bear, he smells nice, and he's squashed where I've held him tightly over the past two years from nightmares.

Having a security blanket is not the issue in my opinion.  The social taboo is that such a thing is indicative of the lack of self confidence and reliance. Needing an external inanimate object to validate ones safety raises the question why are you afraid and is your perception of your safety and by extension the world you live in accurate?

what the h**l is a security blanket...is that one of those foil blankets that you use to put fires out? thats probably a good thing to have
