I'm an American asking a question about UK road signs; any help would be great!?

My friend and her family are bicycling thru Europe over the next 15 months and right now they are in the UK. She has a question about a road sign: It is a blue circle with a red circle around the edge and a red X through it. What does that mean? Thanks!

  2. It means the signwriter stayed in the pub too long at lunchtime.

  3. It means "no stopping"

    It's normally seen on major roads, and means you cannot park there, or stop to load/unload your vehicle.

  5. Not sure!!!  but a sign with an x thru it nomally means the road is a national speed limit road which is 60miles per hour!

    Which I have just been informed as I thought the limit was 70 naughty me, I must slow down!

  6. i think it is a traffic sign meaning clearway no stopplng........may i suggest your friend buys a Highway Code Book available from most book shops....It could save her life......

  7. This means No stopping but I think you can stop in an emergency and if you break down you will not be fined Hereford and Worcester area is very good for site seeing tell them.

  9. Just a bit of waring if they go into the state/country of Wales the signs are billinugal meaning they are in Welsh.
