  2. Any country has a few concerns before they issue a visa.

    1. They need to know your financial standing. So carry your personal bank statements for the last six months. If you own any other assets like fixed deposits, real estate, vehicles then do carry the documents to prove the ownership.

    2. They need an assurance that you can take care of your expenses when in their country and will not be a burden on the government. So carry enough proof of your means of finance, duration of stay for eg an airticket with a confirmed date of return,  address of your place of stay in their country.

    3. They need to know as to what do you do in your country of residence. So carry a letter of introduction from your employers, your position in the company, years of service, permission to travel overseas.

    4. Above all be honest with your information and intent!

    This applies to all countries and not just to the US or your country.

  3. Qualifying for a Visa

    Applicants for visitor visas must show that they qualify under provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Applicants must demonstrate that they are properly classifiable as visitors under U.S. law.

    The presumption in the law is that every visitor visa applicant is an intending immigrant. Therefore, applicants for visitor visas must overcome this presumption by demonstrating that:

    The purpose of their trip is to enter the U.S. for business, pleasure, or medical treatment;

    That they plan to remain for a specific, limited period;

    Evidence of funds to cover expenses in the United States;

    Evidence of compelling social and economic ties abroad; and

    That they have a residence outside the U.S. as well as other binding ties which will insure their return abroad at the end of the visit.

    Where Do I Apply for a Visitor Visa?

    Applicants for visitor visas should generally apply at the American Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Although visa applicants may apply at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa outside the country of permanent residence.

    Mandatory Documents:

    You must bring the following documents to your visa interview:

    A passport that must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter the U.S.

    A completed and signed Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-156 Form)

    One photo that matches the requirements

    A completed and signed Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-157 Form) only if you are 15 to 55 years of age

    HDFC Bank Visa Fee Receipt with two bar code stickers

    Interview appointment letter

    A completed and signed DS-158 Form only if you are applying for a F-1, M-1 or J-1 visa

    Demand draft for the Blanket L-1 Visa Fee only if you are the principal applicant for a L-1 visa and are using a blanket petition to apply for your visa

    Demand draft for the Visa Issuance Fee, if applicable. Indian and Bhutanese citizens and holders of the yellow Identity Certificate are exempt from this fee
