  1. How about decorating each door with travel posters from around the world?  Then, between the doors, you could post maps, pictures and distance markers from one world location (on one door) to the next (on the next door).

  2. I love the idea of the clocks set at different times zones and the Welcome Back or even just Welcome in many different languages!

You can also do the doors in the colors of the flags from different countries.  Each door can then be a flag, in other words, divide the door into thirds and take paper or wrapping paper and cover the door in the colors of the country's flag, and then each door is country.  Then between that door and the next door, do items that respresent that country.

So, if I came to my door room and my door was the Italian flag, my door's colors would be red, white, and green.  Then, on the wall between my door and the next door, there would be Ciao! (hello),  A picture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a picture of a pizza, the Colissium,  maybe some more words in Italian, Amore (love), La Dolce Vita (The sweet life), then pictures of bread, cheese, the Vatican, etc.  Anything that you would relate to Italy.

Then the next door, you can do blue, white, and red, and that can be France, you can do the same thing.  A Picture of the Eiffel tower, some french words and pictures, etc.

I would also make sure the US is in there too!

You can also do each door like this, and just make each door be around the world and have each door be the country.

You can do Landmarks from Around the World.  You can do the Leaning Tower of Pisa from Italy, the Eiffel Tower from France, the Great Wall from China, etc.  You can then have a poster done on the walls.

You can do the foods from around the world.  You can pick the foods that each country is famous for, and even the desserts that each country is famous for.  Then, what you can do is, have one night in your dorm where you get everyone together to have an international night, and have these things.  Send out for pizza, or do pasta, (whatever you can afford to do), get drinks that can be traditional to here, do sweet tea from the south!  Either do a different food each night for a week or weekend, and then a different dessert, or just do one night and have different foods there from different regions.  The ones you know how to make and if you have access, make them, otherwise, order out, like pizza, and things like that.  You can make ice cream a dessert, do the simple ones, make it as simple as you can!

You can do the dress of the countries.  Maybe not now, but the traditional dress of each country.  You can do a Kimono from China, a Beret from France, etc  and if you can get access to them hang them around the common areas.

You can do the festivals of the world and make it as a celebration.  Like San Gennero is an Italian Festival and St. Patrick's Day is an Irish Festival, and then look up ones for different countries, obviously you won't do all the countries, but you can decorate different corners of the common area to look the festivals of the different countries.  Then if you want, do one night as a party night to celebrate the different festivals.  Have Corn beef and cabbage in one corner, have some pizza in another, etc.  Different things you would find at that festival or celebration.

I hope some of these ideas help!

  3. How about "Hot Spots" from around the world.  Maybe you could get the posters free from airlines or travel agencies.  If not, each door could have a print out of say...some country and what they are famous for...

Have a Greetings or Welcome back in many different languages.

Do something with the Olympics Scenes since it is a "around the world participation".  It may be easier to find sports themes to the different events, when they happen and what time they air on television.  That would promote healthy competition which is what the Olympics is all about...

    Good luck

  4. you could do clocks set to different time zones.  set them all up on the same wall, or scattered down the hallway.  you could use little wooden letters or stencils to write the location.
