I'm an amateur in Taekwondo. I'm seeking an excellent quality DVD that teaches all poomsae/taegeux patterns.

I have an excellent instructor (5th Dan) but I only see him 3-4 nights a week. I want to be able to practice patterns at home, however, it is difficult when my instructor is not there. Any good DVD suggestions that have step-by-step instruction on patterns/forms?

  1. i would invite you to pick up a kukkiwon certified book to learn your poomse. If you have a hard time following the book, try you-tube. They have on there both Taeguek forms and Chang Han forms.

Remember, you won't do the move correctly if you do not know its application. For this you'll need that 5th dan instructor of yours. Our seniors did not have the advantages of technology that we do. I encourage my students to use it when they have a hard time remembering moves and want to practice at home. One warning: once you're back in the do-jang, your sabunim knows best. Don't think that you can substitute all his years of dedication and sacrifice for some punk with a Sony and a iMac.

I applaud you for your diligence and willingness to practice poomse at home.

  2. Me to.
