  1. Go to your local theater group and ask them if they know any talent agents. Then audition for the talent agent and you might get your big break


  2. It depends on what kind of singer you are.  Get a band (or learn to play an instrument) and start hitting local coffee shops, bars, etc.   If you are in musical theatre, start auditioning for community theatre.
