I'm an average skilled guitar player that wants to give lessons to my dad. What do i start him off with?

I've been playing guitar for about a year and i get lessons but when i started getting lessons i was already advanced and my dad asked for me to start teaching him. Nothing serious but what do i start a VERY beginner out with on the electric guitar. So far i gave him 1 excercise in which he does 1234 fingering pattern on every string up and down not repeating the high e 23 times. so up to his index finger on the 12th and back down. simple to gain speed. what else?

I would teach him a simple song so he can feel good about his progress. Exercises are very useful, but can get boring really fast!

how to read music...the basic chords.......get a beginners book and follow that ........................
