i'm an illegal immigrant, now my story is that i've been here throughout highschool. Now i'm done with highschool and can start going to a community college obviously since I wont get admission in a university. So my take on this is that even if i get a degree from a community college i still later on wont be able to transfer to a university nor will be able to get a job. So im asking you guys for opinion now I'm thinking o just buying a ticket back to where I'm from. And ya I have family here. I dont even want to tell them a just leave without telling. Thats the only option btw the reason I was here in the first place was that my dad applied in the late amnesty in 1988 and they have prolonged his case 20 years and no results basically all he can do is go back and forth so I was kinda hoping when I came that he would be able to sponsor me and I'll be legal someday. But I dont think thats ever going to happen. So please give me your opinions on this.

  1. go home. if you are illegal, you need to go home until you can come here legally. You cannot get a job without papers,  since they are passing those laws. You need to just go home.

  2. If your going to wait for legalization from the president, that's going to be a long wait with disappointing results for you.

  3. Call a lawyer. Since yo've been here for so long & you're a student, there has to be a way for you to fix your papers.  My cousin was brought into this country illegally when he was a baby, he went to school and got good grades, eventually he was able to get his visa legally, he got a full scholarship and was able to get his bachelors degree.  If you don't have a criminal record and you've been in the states for years there has to be a way.  i don't know where you are from but I know a good immigration lawyer in virginia if you are interested. Hyder & Overas Law Firm - Jennifer West is her name (804)673.2222. i don' t think it matters where you live, she'll help you with any questions you have. good luck.

  4. Consult an attorney they deal with this type of stuff frequently. The wait is long! I have a friend whose parents will have to wait for 10 years. If you are found to have been here illegally, I believe your wait will be prolonged to 20 years.

  5. I wouldn't go back if I were you. Once you go back you will realize how good you had it here. Get your education here and I'm sure by the time you are finishing up 2 years of college there may be some changes in the immigration laws.

  6. If you say so but you still have time to make yourself legal you know. That's a much better option that cutting and running. Don't waste your education.

  7. Go back to your own country before you are 18 1/2 years old and come back legally.  You will not face a ban of ten years because of that age.  You can then come back, perhaps on a student visa, and get a good education here that you will be able to use here.

Without that, you will always be a criminal illegal alien invader and will have not good place in our country to be.  You will never be able to achieve much.

    Best of luck in deciding.

  8. there are more then 12 millions illegal immigrans, not only latinos but from India, China, Checzs, etc.

There could be a legalization soon, do to the presidential election.

If you want to study in the US, go to "University of Reno Nevada" (www.unr.edu) you need no social secury or anything to study in there. And compare to other Universities is not that expensive. That could be the answer.

Remember, knoledge is power"    And power can be use to change things.

But in regards of what to do, I would say follow your heart.

(If i knew the answer to solve your problem i would tell you)

Just remember if you really want to go to college, you can!,  I know many that go.

  9. Honestly, it would probably be in your own best interest to wait for a while before doing anything.  This is a very political issue but perhaps if McCain is elected, you will have a shot at gaining legal status.  I would suggest going to community college for a while and see what happens in congress.  Maybe things will work out for you.

By the way, I'm a high school teacher in an area of the country with many young people in your situation.  I give them the same advice I just gave you.  Hang in there.

  10. Go home and go to school there.  Major in a field that is in high demand here.  Most of us arent against immigration, just illegal immigration.  Learn a skill that is in high demand here an your chances of being granted a work visa is greater.  I suggest something in health care.  RN or higher.

  11. Your best bet is to go home. If you are caught here illegally you will be deported and banned.

  12. Stay here. Once you go back you will want to come right back.. and then you'll have to pay thousands when you do return.
