You would probably want to live somewhere near the capital city of Adelaide.  Near the beach is always nice but it is more expensive.

Adelaide is a great city to live. Easy to get around, great food and the housing is still cheaper than other Aussie cities.  Have a look at the map below to get some idea where everything is.

The fact that you are of Tamil origin is immaterial . I think Indians are on the whole well respected  here

You will soon have friends though as Indians usually interact with fellow Indians ! mostly because of cultural influences .
