It is my 43rd birthday tomorow and I really don't want to celebrate it. Anyway friends of mine INSIST that I must come for dinner at their place to celebrate. They are making fondu. I don't really get into the cheese thing and I suspect they are doing it because they haven't done it before and want to use their new set. The other thing is they take ages to make the dinner so that you actually have to eat before you go. I have to be up early the next day and tried to put them off till next week as I need my sleep, but they were so insistent I agreed. Now it is freezing cold, raining, I am really tired and I have to sit around and be in a party mood. Am I an old f**t or can others relate to this?

  1. I don't think you are an old f**t. You just know what it is you want to do and what it is you do not want to do. This aren't really good friends if they can not respect your decision to have a quiet birthday. It's your birthday so I say you celebrate it how you want to! And you are an adult you can do what you want. You do not want to eat fondu at their place for your birthday then stay home!

  2. Your friends want to celebrate you because you mean so much to them.  Don't be so selfish (only joking)  Just tell them you can't attend and they'll have no choice but reschedule.  Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. cant relate to fondue at all.  fabulous bbq's and everyone brings something different by way of finger foods and desserts.  never leave without a bag of food/desserts and they dont have to ask me twice.

and im older than you!!  yeah, maybe im an old f**t?  but get togethers are really nice.

oooh and have a happy birthday anyway, k?  keep smiling.

  4. yes, I can.(i am 36) My friends birthday is also tomorrow and she asked me and my hubby to go out with them. I am now thinking of is it worth it- to have to worry about the kids with a babysitter, paying the babysitter, worry about having to much to drink and having a hangover on Saturday and so on. I feel like I should be like-h**l ya, ill go out and a have crazy time, but I almost feel its better to stay at home.

But you should feel so lucky to have those friends to do that for you-I don't, and it really hurts.  lets count our blessings, and have some fun.

Happy Birthday-where are you that's its cold? Its hot here in MI

  5. Ha! I'm only 18 and don't feel like partying for my birthday. Who knows? Maybe once you're there you'll enjoy yourself. If not, just remember that your friends are doing this because they care about you.

  6. happy birthday? i can relate

  7. I can relate to not wanting to celebrate a birthday. Heck, at some  point in our liefs, we start looking at the day we were born and wished that it was just another day.

Just tell them you need to take off early, and thank your hosts.
