  1. College is actually easier than k-12 education from the standpoint that there is less busy work. ( You won't ever be filling out worksheets etc...)

However if you were someone who got through high school by being very good at doing all your work and not exhibiting much free thought this could be a difficult transition for you. Personally, I was very bored in high school and graduated with a 2.7 GPA but finished college with a 3.6.

Whereas my wife graduated high school with a 4.4 GPA and finished college with a 3.6 GPA. We are actually the two  different types of students I discussed earlier free thinker and worker and we finished with comparable results. Best of luck to you are about to learn more than you ever Imagined and have lots of fun.

  2. Its not so much that college is hard, the rules are different.  In college they don't hold your hand and remind you constantly that things are due and what is expected,  They tell you once and if you forget that's your problem.  They treat you more like an adult and how a boss would rather than as a baby sitter.

  3. With that kind of GPA you're already a good student with good habits so it will only be as hard as you make it.  The trick to college is do what the professor suggests and you'll succeed, if you don't you won't. Show up to class, pay attention, take notes, and do all of the assignments.  If you find one or two professors or subjects that you struggle with utilize the outside help that's available like study groups or tutoring. And have a good scheduling system for yourself so you don't find yourself working to the last minute on projects.

  4. Thollow1,

Read what Ruby wrote. That is absolutely the truth. The days of spoon feeding are gone and you are on your own. Now the next most important thing is the major you have chosen. Science and Engineering majors are usually harder. Academically you have to study extra hard if you chose a harder major. You have to learn to balance your academic life and learn to stay away from some of the temptations that college life bring into one's life.

  5. This is strange, you have to experience it. High school there were always all these test once a week and you had all this home work. Well in college you go to class if you want, it's usually a good idea lol. You have a syllabus that the teacher gives you so you know what's going on. In almost all of the classes I took my freshman if you went to class, took notes, and studied a good 5 hours for the test you would pass. I only had 2-3 tests in each class. Most of my teachers counted attendance as a good chunk of your grade because they really want you to come to class which is so easy!! So the work load isn't too bad, but the tests you really have to study. It sounds scary but a lot of my teachers told us exactly what was on the tests and so on....they want you to pass, you just have to work with them. Good luck =)
