She's 20, and has requested Milk Duds (apparentally you can't get them there). Any other ideas? Especially of things uniuely American.

  1. You definitely can't get Milk Duds, but how about Franks Hot Sauce (hard to get here), Fluff, Hersheys chocolate, those Peanut Butter cups (not sure who makes them). Peanut Butter M&M's.  Just assorted candy. Hope this helps.

  2. Dont listen to the first person who answered. We can get those things here.

What about some sugar loaded cereal you guys have? :) Like lucky charms?

Ignore that sprite comment. I dont mean to be rude to that person, but yeah.. Our sprite is the same.. and "limon" is lemon, sprite is lemonade. We do not have dr pepper here at all, we did a few years back.. but nobody really liked it because its disgusting so they stopped selling it. We have the same reaction to dr pepper that Americans have to vegemite.  lol

Send your friend some poptarts. We dont have them anymore.. I dont know what happened to those. I've never bought them.. I dont think many people bought them. They just disappeared off the shelves.

Theres alot of things that you guys have that we dont, and some things dont fit our taste buds like yours. So yeah, dont send too much of one thing just incase :)

  3. Firstly, you'll need to be sure that you don't send anything that Customs considers illegal.  So don't be sending any seeds or plant material, because Customs won't be happy.  For a thorough listing of regulated/prohibited foodstuffs... www.daff.gov.au/aqis/travel/entering-aus...

Things that are nigh on impossible to locate here (in Australia) are wintergreen lifesavers and hot dollars.  We have Hershey's and Reece's -- so don't bother.  We also have Fluff; although we don't have cheese in a can (and dairy won't get passed Customs, so don't bother).

Cans of "soda"/"pop"... such as Dr Peppers or Sprite (we have Sprite here; but it's not "limon").  Although, I doubt she'll thank you for the Dr Peppers.  It's about as popular here as Vegemite is to Americans (LOL).

Maybe try to send her some Goobers or Welch's Concord Grape Jelly.  The jelly should pass through Customs; just remember to wrap the jar in bubble-wrap.

Forget the "Mexican" suggestion.  Obviously that person's friend is blind.  Old El Paso (plus others) are widely available in Australia.  And we have plenty of Mexican restaurants.

Don't bother with M&Ms... got'em.  But if you like... Pepperidge Farm; Goldfish or anything.  We don't have Pepperidge Farm here.

    Hope that helps.

  4. A corvette would be  appreciated

  5. My mom was just in Australia and you can't get Mexican food apparently. If you go to the store there are no tortillas, guacamole, salsa, etc. How about stuff like that? Hope that helps! :)

  6. I wouldn't send her food...

Probably a T-Shirt with Made in America label. Or a cute cuddly American toy.

  7. Definite no-no's: George Dubbya, Condoleza, any form of white powder

    OK: iPhone

    Good: Clothes, cosmetics, funky jewelry

    Better: Clothes, cosmetics, funky jewelry

    Best: Clothes, cosmetics, funky jewelry

  8. A tee shirt with a American flag would be great too and plush toys of common American animals :)

  9. er, i dont know what you can send, but i live in Aus and i can tell you we do have tortillas, guacamole, salsa, so to the first answerer....your mum didnt look hard enough!
