I'm applying for a school sponsored trip to Peru... Any suggestions on writing my interest essay, please?

Question

I've never applied for something like this. The form says 'Why do you want to go on this trip? How will you be a quality member of the group and contribute to the experience of others? Explain your interest in social studies, math and science and how they will grow throughout this experience. This is not a vacation. What is it about Peru, specifically, that you want to learn more about?'

I know that was kind of long but I really don't know where to start. I don't know how to come across with something like this. What are they looking for??

Oh hey.. I wanted to email you, but you don't have it enabled, so I wanted to let you know, to make sure you have a couple of adults edit and critique your work.. and make 2-3 drafts before you turn it in. I know it sucks, but it really does help with the writing..
