My daughter will be 7 months on the 13th of sep. I've asked similar questions a few times so sorry to all who are getting sick of me lol

For nearly a week now she has been really unsettled. Up until now she has been great at night and never wanted to nurse to sleep...(as soon as I'm empty she's off and ready for whatever's next). The last 6 nights she's been up almost every hour. I can resettle her in the cot but she wakes again in 10 minutes. I can feed her and she'll sleep for an hour before waking again. Sometimes crying sometimes screaming...again if I try to settle her in the cot, she wakes after 10 minutes but she's nurse to sleep.

She has just started crawling and cut a tooth about 2 weeks ago. So it could be that but no pain relief seems to make any difference (panadol, or teething gel).

Can someone please tell me that it is not going to last as this is the thing that is bothering me the most...I can deal with no sleep but it is the uncertainty of whether this is going to happen indefinitely. Did your baby do this? How long did it last?

  1. Hi,

Not sure weather this will help, but my little girl did it when she was 4 months old. I was breastfeeding too but the only that did settle her down was i had to put her to formula, but the other thing that was a problem for us was she was losing weight and we also put that down to me not producing enough milk, So if you think thats the case try and get some fenugreek. Great for increasing milk supply.. But thats the only advice i have... Good luck

  2. Yes my baby girl has been doing the same thing. In the last 3 nights it has stopped. I beleive it has been her teeth, i have been a bit more leaniant and am giving her my boob when she wanted it.

I tried to keep her sleep/wake routine as close to normal as possible.

Panadol was regular, our doc was fine with us giving it to her for a few days..

    Good luck

  3. Just for the rest of your life will your children try your patience.

But the bright side is she's teething, its painful, she'll cry. She will want to chew {she'll slobber like you wouldn't believe} Mine our 17 an 21. They have can't remember the name, but there teething cookies. You can also try not fully frozen things. Like carrots, just nothing she can choke on.

This to some might sound cruel. Babies cry, sometimes for reasons. Other times just for attention. If you get to the end of your rope and want to throw her through the wall. Your human, but you don't do it. Put her in the crib, let her cry {it won't kill her to do so} then you step outside to calm down. Babies can feel the stress you have. They get more worked up and so do you. Then they cry even more. She might cry herself to sleep. Sometimes they just want to cry as they go to sleep. If you pick her up at her first cry. She has trained you to get what she wants and will cry more. If she's still crying after 10 or 15 minutes pick her up to try and comfort her again. When they do cry them self to sleep, you'll go in to see if she's still breathing. Because you'll notice its quite. Be careful on checking, you might just wake her up

I have older sisters and brothers and got to watch their children. I think I was about 13 or so. One nephew cried for 12 hours straight. He's in his 30 and I tell him he's lucky to be alive. I finally put him down. He cries himself to sleep after another 1/2 hour. Then his mom came home {my brothers wife} and said oh what a little angel. Patience is a virtue.

Oh the teething biscuits look almost like dog biscuits. If I remember a sort of hard grahm cracker taste.

Good luck. Glad mine are older. Someday grandkids and I get to do it again.

I might be a man, but I know allot about children.

Sometimes they also run a slight fever when teething, as long as she's not burning up.

If worried always check with a doc.

  4. Your baby could be teething. Your milk could also be lightening up. Try to feed her some baby oatmeal before bed, so she has something more filling in her tummy before bed.

  5. nothing lasts forever ...she is unsettled for some reason ,try doing the same thing every time you put her to bed ,and then if she wakes repeat it then leave ...if she wakes again go back and quietly pat her with out talking or picking her up and see if she settles ...she will grow out of this ..

  6. Is she running a slight fever? Sounds like an ear infection to me. Infants with ear infections do not sleep laying down flat it hurts their ears too much. When you nurse her she is in a slightly slanted postion thus relieving the pain. Call your Dr- this does not seem to be due to teething. Try elevating her crib mattress a little this may help- but call your dr ASAP in the morning

  7. bay cereal and a call to the doc are very good suggestions. But on the bright this can't possibly last for ever. It will get better it has too. HE will eventually grow up:) Good luck and i hope she feels better. try infant tylenol to it could help releive any discomfort she is haveing.
