I'm an alto and can sing some higher notes, but I'm more comfortable singing lower. I was thinking of singing either:

1. In My Own Little Corner from Cinderella

2. Little Girls from Annie

3. Cruella De Ville from 101 Dalmations

4. Colors of the Wind from Pochontas (sorry this is spelled wrong)

5. L-O-V-E by Nat Cole (I think) though I'm not sure if I should sing this one because it's a guy song

Which one do you think I should sing? Any other suggestions would be most helpful.

  1. What show/part are you auditioning for? Choose something in the style of what you are auditioning for (Though never a song from the actual show).

    A few suggestions:

    Roxie from Chicago

Let me Entertain You from Gypsy

Make a Miracle from Where's Charley?

My New Philosophy from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown

I Enjoy Being a Girl from Flower Drum Song (this one's a favorite of mine, and a pretty easy song)

Lot's of Luck with your audition and just remember to be yourself. =]

  2. I think you should sing In my Own Little Corner from Cinderella.

  3. L-O-V-E by Nat Cole (I think) though I'm not sure if I should sing this one because it's a guy son.

I love this song. Even thought its sung by a man, I think its one for thoses unisex songs. I believe women can pull it off too.

  4. Yes, what role you're aiming for would be helpful- are you hoping to be cast as Dorothy?

Well, as the movie is from the late 1930's, more modern songs like colors of the Wind wouldn't be my first suggestion. Your other ones are all from a more 'classic' period, although I'd stick to musical theater.

If these are the only songs to choose from (and I don't recommend trying to learn a new one in 5 days) and if you were hoping for Dorothy, I'd go with In My Own Little Corner. The trapped, isolated feeling matches well with Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  If you're just auditioning for whatever, then just do whatever song you're most comfortable with, and can have fun singing.

    Break a leg at auditions!
