I'm babysitting and I need some punishment tips.?

I babysit three kids and none of them listen to me.

you must talk with the parents to determine what they want you to do in their absence.  Dont do anything that they would not recommend.

Tell them they have a choice. For example (Say this to them:) you have a choice, you can either be nice to your brother and have a good time or you can sit in time out for five minutes. This way it sounds like THEY are in control. And when you say something like that, squat so you are on THEIR level. You can choose the choices, i just gave you an example. Hope this helps! Time out is good.  If the one child is acting up separate them from the others and put them in time out.  I usually do not let them join the group until they have apologized.  Once they apologize say thank you and drop it.  Don't keep punishing the kid by your attitude.  Play with all of them equally to prevent any rivalries for attention.  Also refusing to play a certain game with them if they do not behave.  Example:  Since you can not behave I am not going to play hide and seek with you.  If you learn to behave then we can start to play and have fun, however I do not play with children who cant listen.  Do not hit the kids, they are not yours and this should never be done by a baby sitter in my opinion.

Any discipline you do should model what the parents do. Talk to them first.

If they dont seem to do anything I suggest time outs. Have a time out corner and set a timer according to their age - 1 minute per year. You need to tell them about the time outs before they are in trouble and then when they are done with the time out they need to understand why they were in the time out and apologize or do the correct thing to make the situation right. If they run out of time out do not scream or yell at them just place them back in the time out and start the timer again. The first couple of times might be rough but it will eventually work.
