I'm babysitting for a whoel 24 hours, what should I do to keep 2 kids busy?

One kid is 10 years old and the other is 7. Does anyone have any good ideas for entertainement? I've never done a whole 24 hour job!

I'd get a lot of games together and pull them out as the kids get bored.  You might plan to have them help you cook something easy - ready-made cookies or something, too.

I'd have maybe an activity planned for every hour or hour and a half that they are awake.

I've hidden clues around the house and had the kids do a scavenger hunt to find a prize.  You could have the kids create one, too.

I read to kids a lot, too.  You might hit the library for a choose your own adventure book or a sideways stories from wayside school book.

If they have a video game system, renting a new game will provide HOURS of entertainment, so you could suggest this to the parents.

I'd end the evening with something quiet like a movie.  That will buy you some time to clean up while they get settled.

Finally, I'd make sure you took some time to do things around the house, clean up, whatever, to give the kids time to find something to do.  If they are entertaining themselves, you'll have an easier time of it.

boy? girl? both?  i have a 10 yr old girl, an 8 yr old boy and 18 month old......i can say that some sort of a schedule will help, that being said, do not have high expectations to adhere to it.  here are a few ways we spend our summer days:

* the pool--you can find a city pool depending on where you live.  buy a kiddie pool for $10 or even a sprinkler to run under.

* library or a book store. the major bookstores have really cool kid sections that will occupy them for at least 2 hours.

* rent a movie--we watched Flushed Away last night, it's great for that age, so is Spiderwick Chronicles, and MANY more

* city park/lake

* board games--you can pick up Twister or Clue Jr for less than $10

* imaginative play--house, school, dance club, etc...esp if one is a girl!
