I'm babysitting tomorrow - any tips, tricks of the trade, advice???

I have already met with the family and completed a baby sitting course and am confident about it but do you have any little tricks and tips that will help me?

Im getting paid £4 an hour - is that good?

Usual rate for babysitting in the UK is £9 per hour, but that is if you are qualified, £4 does sounds really bad though, that's under minimum wage, they had a good deal with you!

My son used to get interested in what the kids liked. ?For  example my daughter is 6 and she loves high school musical, my son got several jobs with this one family as the kids wated him back!

Make sure you have parents contact number. Dot aswer the door and let anyone in!

Watch she sits still if eating in case she chokes.

Ask what she should wear to bed , and cuddle in bed, and show an interest in the child!

Ask the girl what she'd like to do.  DON'T sit in front of the tv.  She'd probably LOVE someone to play games with her if she's an only child, use your imagination.  Draw pictures for her and let her draw some for you.  Pretend the floor is hot lava and put papers down on the floor saying they are "safe rocks" then dash across the room on them trying not to get burned by the lava.  Let her help you bake cookies or cupcakes, then decorate them together.

its an ok rate. just dont give into her demands if he becomes stroppy and stand your ground. let her know you are boss.

considering that i am babysitting RIGHT THIS MINUTE, just make sure to keep them busy at all times, try to feed them about 20 minutes before their feeding time, keep a clean diaper ALWAYS, and make them laugh. also watch their favorite TV shows with them!

Depends on how old the kids are. keep them entertained - no doubt they'll have some toys that you can do together. When it comes to settling down time watch a dvd with them then read them a story before bed.

The rate of pay sounds good.
