I'm building a mx track and thinking bout buying a utilitytractor.will it work to maintain and build new jumps

Question

i was also thinking about a skid steer but i really want a utility tractor so i can use i to mow and till up the garden. i was reseaching motocross tracks and only saw dozers and skid steers. it will have pretty big jumps so i want enough power. i was thinking maybe a 40-50 hp utility tractor. a john deere hopefully

Like Auburn said, a tractor like that will work to maintain the track but it will take forever to move the kind of dirt it takes to build a good track. Pay someone to bring in dozer/loader to build the track and then maintain it your self. You can do it with the tractor but it will be a very slow process.

I had a bobcat 773 with a bucket on the front at my house for awhile for a construction project that was goin on and i "borrowed" it a few times to touch up my track and it seemed to work perfectly I have a ford tractor with a pretty big bucket on it and it just wasnt as maneuverable as the bobcat... and a lot less likely to flip if you have any steep grade. those bobcats are just the all in one package.

We have a motocross track and a supercross track in our paddocks and my husband does the minor maintenance with his tractor.  I couldn't tell you how much horse power it has, but it has a detachable bucket on the front of it and it isn't a large one.  

The actual building of the track was done by bigger machines and we had a lot of clay brought in which we got free from building sites that were doing excavation.  We also have a friend who has a bobcat and while the bobcat is a bit small to do the really big work (as it takes forever to build a jump in a bobcat) but the friend helps to keep the track maintained as well.
