Question:

I'm buying a 92' Honda Prelude Si for $1350?

It leaks oil and the guy told me it needs a new cam seal which is apparently a common problem with Honda's. It also needs a CV joint replacement. This car is worth about $3500 so I still feel I'm getting a good deal.

I am going to replace the cam seal myself. Are there some other things I should consider replacing seeing as I will have the engine open? What are some other trouble areas I should focus my energy on?

  1. I had a '92 SI and a '95 VTEC, both with over 200,000 miles, and the only thing I can remember fixing is the rear main seal in both, and the SI had pretty noisy lifters. $1350 seems like a great price for a '92, if it's in decent shape. A LOT of the '92-'96's have been modified, and/or abused and/or wrecked, so a CarFax and an inspection by a qualified mechanic would be money well spent.
