I'm buying a Canon Rebel XT where can I find it the cheapest?

I'm upgrading from my 6.1 megapixel point and click so I don't need anything massively expensive, but I am wondering where I can find it at a good price. I do have other expenses I have to pay coming up on my paycheck so the lower the better. So far Amazon has the lowest price, but it tends to fluctuate. I really would like to get the black one. Any ideas?

  1. If you have a membership, a cheap place to get it new is at Costco.com.  This is where I purchase all my photography equipment.  For example, BestBuy online has a 70-300mm lens for $699.99.  On Costco.com, the exact lens is only $549.99, a whole $150 dollars less!

  2. You can buy it from Amazon, cheaper than anywhere alse:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i...

    Hope that can help you/.

  3. Would you consider getting it used?  Stores like KEH, B&H, and Adorama do a good job of testing the equipment and rating it.  Since the XT is two generations old (XSi is current, and XTi is last generation), it may be difficult to find a new one anyways.

You might can get it cheaper off eBay, but that's a little more riskier. Maybe someone has one for sale on your local Craigslist or in your newspaper classifieds.  Also check to see if you have a local photo store that sells used equipment.  You can at least check it out to see its condition.

If you see a store on the internet that seems to have really low prices, check it on ResellarRatings.com.  There are a lot of "bait-and-switch" stores/scams for cameras.  It's best to avoid them.
