pentium 4 ee 3.4ghz

2gb ddr400 ram

radeon x1950 pro 512mb

viewsonic vx922 19" 2ms

etc

what parts of it should i sell? (yes i am going to sell it)

should i keep the monitor, or sell it too?

how much should i sell it (the parts i'm going to sell) for, and how should i sell it (all parts together, sell parts separately)?

  1. Your Processor, RAM, and Video Card are the Money Makers, I recommend you sell those if you want some good cash!!!

  2. You seem resolved to sell the desktop so get rid of everything but DO NOT take it to a used or recycled computer store, sell it person to person through Craig's List or Facebook's Marketplace. I never buy anything through those sites unless there is a decent picture that shows the goods and gives a general feel about the shape they would be in.

If you tear the components apart PLEASE don't make the usual mistake many are guilty of, that is place the components on a carpet or your fresh-from-the-dryer laundry since static electricity is enemy number one of such electronics. That "little" detail will keep potential buyers away since nobody smart enough will bother to buy parts that are already fried.

Plug the monitor in, place an attractive an impressive background, take a picture and offer the option to sell separately from the desktop. Find honest reviews about the monitor and place a couple links in the ad (Newegg, Amazon and Tiger Direct include reviews for most popular products).

  3. You should sell the entire system as a whole so you can sell the pieces that are not really in demand anymore instead of having them collect dust in a closet.
