Most laptops have Wireless A,G and N connectivity.  The only thing that you need at home is a wireless router.  There are two types ADSL routers if your router connects to the phone lines, or Ethernet routers.

If you already have a router, but it doesn't support wireless just get a Ethernet router and plug the existing router to the Ethernet router.

I heard that a lot of the Duel Band routers have problems with them...  Anyway it's best to read the reviews before you buy.

Make sure your Ethernet router support WiFi I suggest getting the DLink 655, much better than the Linksys 350.  Both of which I have.  I heard that the Belkin wireless routers aren't too bad as well.

You need

-An internet connection in your house (a provider)

-A modem (may not be needed depending on what router you get)

-And a wireless router - there are so many different kinds, i would go with a linksys (a cheap one is fine)

-Oh, and make sure your laptop has wifi capabilities

First off, buy an HP (Hewlitt-Packard) bcz they have an onlinr 'chat' tech support that's good for YOUR lifetime (not just your computer's lifetime...YOUR'S).. I love it, and I've learned more from the techs this way than anyone I know.

The other is most laptops have wireless cards already built-in ....and all you need is to have your ISP (Internet Service Provider) Comcast, ATT, SBCglobal (ATT), etc., or your dial-up like AOL, JUNO, NETSCAPE, Earthlink, etc. and them tell you how to configure it with their equipment/service.

That's all I did.  I have SBCGlobal(ATT) and their operators gave me instructions, step by step.
