Basically, if anyone can help me with the basics of buying my first bike, it would be so awesome. I'm looking for something between 4000-8000. Sporty would be best. Speicifically, I really want to know what the width of the wheel does for riding, because all the bikes in my price range have very thin wheels, and it doesn't look that cool. Can you switch it for thicker ones after you buy it?

And if you could give me some opinion on the Honda CBR125R...it seems like a good learner's bike.

Thanks guys!!!

  1. You want a 125 sport bike with fat wheels right?

  2. You're talking about the rear tire, right?  A wider tire will give you a larger contact patch on the road when you're going into turns.  I don't know about some of the other people that answered on here but, on a sport bike, that translates into better performance.  On a 125 you won't be able to fit a wider tire on it, you might be able to go to the next size up but that's about it.  A cbr125 is a great learning bike.  If you want a bike with a larger tire you'll need to go 600cc or higher.

  3. Being its your first, Id not care what it looks like, you will be dumping it, and it wont look that way long.

For those of you that think you can just jump on a sports bike and go.

    Wear lots of protective gear

  4. powerclimbers are very good and nice bike they are made by the company next

  5. Sport bikes aren't made to perform well with wide tires.  The Honda you mention would be a great learner bike.  If you want wider tires you need to think cruiser.  Safety and actual drivability is more important than looking cool.
