  1. i am an assistant coach for my dad and he has them just do scrimages and we make them run down a line and pick up a ball and at a certan spot they throw to the next person in line its pretty cool

  2. I am in favor two on one and one on two drills.  For example have one of the kids to be a receiver against two defensive backs.  A coach should be the passer that the age group you mention.  Then turn it around and have the kid who was the receiver and have him to defend against the two other kids who were the defenders.  Let each kid have a chance to be in the role of one against two.  There is a kind of Disney movie about to workout.  "It is not fair coach."   But, after they get into the "unfair game" they will enjoy the success of the "one."  It will defeat the boredom of your 6-8 year olds because it is different.  Hope you will try it as it does not really expose the kids to injury other than maybe some ego deflation!

  3. you could play shark when there is 1-  3 people in the  middle and the rest of the team is on one side of the field and they have to get to the other side without being tagged last one who isn't pulled wins

  4. Steelers

run around the feild till they puke

  5. First of all....good luck managing those boys! Last year was my son's first year of flag football and keeping his attention was not easy.  He also needed to learn the fundamentals of play.

It seems like all of the boys only want to practice being QB or tackling (which obviously wasn't allowed.)  So they played a game similar to tag to get used to pulling on the flags...divide into two teams and then let them run around trying to grab the other teams flags...when a boy is missing both of his flags then he's out.

  6. do the wr cb drill the 1st player goes playes wr and runs a route to catch the ball that the coach throws then the go be the CB

  7. this age is a real challange. Do not do drills that require them to wait in line for their turn. A veriation on the flag drill so noone is ever out is to start with only one boy "IT" and every time a boy looses a flag he becomes part of that team and tries to get other boys flags until only one is left with a flag, then he is "IT" for the next round. Another would be keep away. 2 teams When the player with the ball gets his flag taken he has to stop running and try to pass the ball to one of his team mates. if the pass is completed his team keeps the ball, if it is incomplete or intercepted the other team gets the ball. Most important is that the boys have FUN. If they think it is play not practice they will learn and love it. Also in your scrimmages rotate player possitions every play so every player plays every possition. This can help them to understand that every possition is important in a team game.

Also make sure you are having fun, the kids will know and it makes a difference. The best example of that I can give you is to read up on Pete Carroll at USC practices, he gets in the mix and has fun, and his teams do OK too.
