Hi, i'm coming in London for two weeks and i don't know what to buy.

I will live in zone 3, i have to take buses and trains. Is it possible to put a one week travel card on a oyster card ?

If it's not, is it better to buy an oyster card or a one week travel card (two times) ? What's the less expensive ?

  1. Yes, you can have a 7 day travelcard on an Oyster card. I'm not sure if you can have two 7 day travelcards for consecutive weeks on it though. I've never tried that but definitely get the 7 day travelcards loaded on your Oyster card instead of using Oyster 'Pay as you go'.

Oyster 'Pay as you go' would only work out cheaper if you were to:

    - only travel after 7pm* from Mon-Fri and at weekends (Oyster off-peak times)

    - limit yourself to travelling no more than 5 days a week

    - travel by Tube, Bus and Tram only (not National Rail)

*which I guess it's something you're not planning to do

  2. I think you can only buy daily, weekly, monthly or yearly travel cards so it would be better for you to buy weekly ones but I think that you could buy both weeks at once.

If not just go back just before it expires and purchase the other week.

  3. All the fares are on TfL -

A pay as you go oyster may be best.
