  1. 2010 they go to 4 that means 5 can run in 2009...

    contracts are as follows

Biffle just signed for 3 years

Edwards just signed for 3 years

    Kenseth has till 2010

    Ragan is there till 2009

McMurray in 2009 so there you are

  2. It has to be down to four cars by 2010. I don't know much about the contract situation but I think whoever goes, probably McMurray, will go to Doug Yates Racing and take his sponsor and number with him there.

  3. Per NASCAR's 'team cap' rules Roush-Fenway has to reduce to 4 teams. (Ironically this is seen to have come about by most because Roush-Fenway had 5 teams in the Chase in 2005 (at the time 1/2 of the Chase contenders).

By the 2010 Daytona 500 Roush-Fenway must be down to 4 teams.

    #6 - David Ragan

signed through 2009 (but I see him staying)

    #16 - Greg Biffle

signed through 2011 (contract extended in 2008)

    #17 - Matt Kenseth

signed through 2009 (I see this as a slight possibility)

    #26 - Jamie McMurray

signed through 2009 (I see this as the best possibility)

    #99 - Carl Edwards

signed through 2011 (contract extended in 2008)

But from Yates Racing's alliance with Roush-Fenway, much like Hall of Fame with Joe Gibbs & Haas CNC (to be Stewart-Haas) with Hendrick I see him exploiting the current rules a little & placing him in a 3rd YR car.

  4. Q: "Okay so what year is it?"

A: Right now it is 2008.

Q (implied): "What year does Roush have to cut to four teams?"

A: By the beginning of 2010.

Q: "Which drivers are signed through then?"

A: All of them, but three of them have contracts longer than that...

    David Ragan: through 2009

    Jamie McMurray: through 2009

    Matt Kenseth: through 2010

    Greg Biffle: through 2011

    Carl Edwards: through 2011

you do the math... more than likely, i'm guessing mcmurray will be the driver of the third yates car, likely to be announced sometime next year. in essence, the cat in the hat will have seven teams by then instead of five, just listed under two owners. sorta like hendrick and stewart-haas.

ps. mark, it does "work if you work it, so work it cause you're worth it!!!"

  5. Keep comming back!  It works if you work it!

  6. 1  -2008

    edwards

    kenseth

    ragan

    biffle

    as far as i know

  7. I think Rowdy got it right.

  8. They will have to let go of 1 driver by the beginning of 2010.

Carl Edwards is the only one signed through then I think. This is how I see it.

David Ragan (6)- I see David staying at Roush as he has a lot of potential and a win not too far away. he has also been very consistent with a lot of top fives and tens.

Carl Edwards (99)- I see Carl staying. He has already won a couple of races.

Matt Kenseth (17)- He has been fairly consistent this year and is a fairly good driver.

Greg Biffle(16) They should keep Greg becuase.... Well, I see no reason to keep him but they might as well just keep him and be done with it.

Jamie McMuarry(26?)- jamie will probablly be the one they let go as he has been toward the back of the pack for most of the year.

I feel taht they should get to keep all of their drivers but that is just my opinion.

  9. It looks like Jamie McMurray will be the odd man out after the 2009 season.Based on the contract situations and his performance.

  10. the start of the 2010 season
