I'm confused about a quote from "The Army Wives". ?

I was watching the part before Amanda dies and she said

"Show me the mother, and I'll show you the child."

What exactly does that mean? If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate your help. Please don't leave stupid comments. Thanks and have a great day!

I think the quote is similar to the phrase - Like father like son.

Meaning that, if you know the character of a mother, you will be able to easily identify her child out of a crowd of people even if no one told you because they'll act in similar ways.
