I'm confused about mopping with my new products???

So I'm sure this is going to make sound like a complete dolt, but I've only mopped with pine-sol by hand or with a squeegee mop or with my swiffer wet jet; so...

I bought some Method brand floor cleaner and the instructions are: Squirt onto floor and sweep in long strokes. That's it, so if I'm using an industrial type mop (kind that you can take off the mop part off and wash in washing machine), do I mop the floor with water first, then squirt and brush, then rinse? Or just squirt mop then rinse? I'm sure it's simple and I'm making more out of it than I need to...maybe I need more coffee today :)

  1. I can't believe I clicked this, I am all cleaned out!!

My room is awesome by the way. :D

Don't worry Jen, just follow the instructions and all should be peachy!

    >> Well... pretty lucky really, we haven't gone 'house shopping' yet, but my bed is black and so is my lamp and cushions, so it's not looking too bad so far!

Its actually blue black and hot pink, because I have these weird pink and black canavas which look cool on the walls,, my pink cushion and my pink fairy lights... then all my wacky posters of course! So for a first day its very homely. I will take a piccy, thanks for asking! Mum loved the ideas you sent me, I'm gonna really look at them all again for inspiration.

Let me know how the scary mopping goes!

  2. Wow, you take mopping very seriously!

    :D

Just squirt it onto the floor, then take the mop, and go back and forth, back and forth....

    haha.

  3. I wouldn't use water unless it says to . I use all those method cleaners and just follow the instructions and it will come out great

  4. I used super hot water and cleaner when I worked in a restaurant. The cleaner was chemical based and not something I would want at home. Bleach is a fairly safe and effective cleaner. Judging by the picture you have dogs. So do I. They eat off the floor so I don't clean it with anything I would not eat off of myself. Bleach becomes safe for human food contact after some short period of time I believe.

I use white vinegar and very hot water. I eye ball what I need. Normally I do a first mop which leaves some liquid, then I go back over with old towels or a super squeezed dry mop.

I'm not a professional so please check any of this with someone who knows.

  5. I don't have a clue but when you figure it out you want to come mop mine ;)
