I am asking because the Connaught Re-Opens June 2008 as ‘Hélène Darroze at the Connaught’ under two Michelin-starred Executive Chef Hélène Darroze. So how does it work is the ‘Hélène Darroze at the Connaught’ 2 starred because of the chef or will the restaurant (I suspect) have to earn the stars independently of this?

  1. The venue has the star although it is normally earned by the Chef. It is allocated to the venue based on an inspection and is based not only on the food but also the service, decor, ambience etc etc.

  2. The chef has the stars - the restaurant can't get stars as, as far as I know, there is no restaurant able to cook all by itself.

  3. the restaurant keeps the stars but it is the chef that earns them. when the chef leaves the place usually will lose a star.
