The (fraction) question is 2 4/5 + 1 1/5...I got 3 5/5 now do I change that to 4 or do I leave it how it is?

  1. Yes. Because 5/5 equals one therefore 3+1=4 :)

  2. change it because 3 5/5 just looks stupid

  3. Yeah, change it otherwise it wont be in its lowest form

  4.         2    4/5

         + 1     1/5

             3    5/5

when you divide the denominator(bottom number) into the numerator (top number) you get an answer of 5 into 5 will go only once (1), then you have the 3 what you do here is you from 5/5 which is 1 and add it to the 3 and you get an answer of 4, so 4 will be your answer. I hope it helps you.

  5. Every time the fraction is 'full' (2/2, 5/5, 30/30, 6000/6000), get rid of the fraction and add a whole number.
