i asked a question about limewire and most of the answers said that frostwire is better. i looked at it and it looks the same as limewire. but the said that frostwire is much more safer but at the same time can give you viruses....so my question is, is frostwire much more safer than limewire? and i usually download songs to put in my ipod but i read the comments about frostwire and said that they couldn't do it....

is that right? what are your experiences with limewire or frostwire?

  1. Both use the Gnutella network to share fiels, which means both have the dsmae huge amount of Virus's. Frostwire htoug hhas a slightly better downlaod engine so will downlaod faster on some stuff.

not sure about loaidng osngs to Ipod.

Either way ther both pretty much full of Virus's n Illegal music n video,s, os i wouldnt bother, jsut use Itunes store if you have an Ipod, at least its legal and virus free, so you ownt wreck your Pc or Ipod.

I used both a while back, but now most sites are DRM free and the new anti-P2P stuff come into palve in UK i dont use it any more.

(Viruss can pretend they are music files, so its not always a sure thing, peopel will say that they are sually 5kb fiels, but nowadays there getting smarter, so the small virus file is actualyl embeded in the ID tag of a music file)

  2. Frostwire was created based on Limewire. They work on the same Gnutella network, but Frostwire also has bittorrent support. Frostwire is comparable to Limewire Pro (better than basic Limewire), and uses 4 ultrapeers instead of 3 like Limewire basic (LM pro uses 5).

Frostwire has iTunes integration, so your iPod will work fine.

They are the same as far as virus potential is concerned.

  3. I use limewire, and i'm pretty sure it's more popular. Most people have heard of it, unlike frostwire, i'd never heard of it until now.

Well, you can get viruses off both limewire and frostwire. Because All the things you download are shared by other people all over the net. If you have an antivirus, you can scan the file before you open it and listen/watch it.

Music and films aren't usually the virus containing files, its usually programmes.

They appear to be adobe photoshop with serials and keygens, when really they're really terrible trojans!

The best way to avoid getting a virus on either is to check that the filesize is about right.

& sometimes that other people have downloaded it.

most music is around 4,000 and 6,500 kb

and most episodes or movies around 300 - 700 mb.

you can also tell if the file is not any bad by the icon next to it. it has a little icon representing itunes or windows media player. whatever you use to watch or listen to your downloaded things on.

  4. They both use the Gnutella network, so they're accessing the same files.  Both are excellent ways to get child p**n, viruses, keyloggers and other malware.  Limewire has been implicated in cases of fraud and identity theft.  Using either to download music is illegal, so your chances of getting caught and sued are about the same.

It's like choosing between having unprotected s*x with Crack w***e A versus Crack w***e B.  Both are disease vectors, and both are likely to get you busted.

  5. I've had both, and I didn't see much difference, but I prefer Limewire.
