  1. Yes they have different systems in some places. The most easiest way to note is that it goes from reception year (first year) up to year 11 compulsory. 12 and 13 are A level and are optional.

In most of the UK the education system is as follows...

reception to year 6 is primary school. (end of year 6 you do SATS tests to see what level the child is progressing)

year 7 to 11 is secondary school. in year 9 you do sats again and it determines your GCSE classes. You then choose options of subjects to take for 10 and 11 for your gcses. But maths, english and science are compulsory.

12 and 13 are tertiary or better known as sixth form college. You choose 3-5 subjects to study into further detail, and usually the main university stepping stone.

  2. The compulsory school ages are 5-16 years old, any education after that is further education.

    Aged 0-5- Nursery School (Non-compulsory)

aged 5-11- Primary school.(start of compulsory education)

Aged 11-16- Secondary school (high school)

    Aged 16- 18 - sixth form college (non-compulsory)

    Aged 18 + - University

    Hope this helps :)

  3. on average.

nursery when you are 4. this is where you learn things like how to make a mess with paints and how to do the first alphabet and numbers.

primary when you are 5 and you do this for 7 years. this is where yo learn basic stuff like spelling, english stuff like verbs, counting, multiplying, dividing, area and computing.

secondary is where it is confusing. england, wales and ireland are different but because i am scottish i am going to say the scottish version just because we are confusing and cant follow everyone else. s1 and s2 are kind of easy stuff where you have maybe 16 subjects. s3 and s4 are standard grades, you choose 8 subjects including english, maths, a foreign languague, science, a social subject eg. geography, history and 3 choice subjects. you take your standard grades in s4 when you are about 16. you can leave at this point or carry on.

s5 is highers where you take 5 subjects including english. mainly you would take the ones that you got the most marks in for your standard grades. you can then leave at this point aswell.

s6 is your final year where you do 3 subjects of advanced highers or just highers. you can do more but im pretty sure you have to do 3.

you then can go onto university or college which you train for a job for different amounts of years.

    you then go onto work.

  4. Nursery

    PlaySchool

    Primary School

    Secondry School

    College / Sixth Form

    University

  5. It is different depending on which part of Britain...eg:

Some parts have three tier: Infant, Junior and High School or Primary, Middle and Upper then go on to sixth form or college and then onto university.

Others have tow tier which is a first and second school....usually ages 5-10, 11+

Or if you go to private/independent school they have a completely differnet tier as well such as pre-prep, prep, etc.

It's very confusing isnt it! But basically school age starts term the child turns 5 and ends legally at 16 after GCSE's...and then continuing is optional!

  6. well

    first you have playschool/nursery-optional

then you have primary school (4-7)

    which has

    reception-kindergarden

year 1-some might start first grade here

year 2-which is about the time you start first grade

    then it juniors school (7-11)

    which is

    year 3-2nd grade

    year 4-3rd grade

    year 5-4th grade

    year 6-5th grade

    then..it's secondry school (11-16)

    year 7-6th grade

    year 8-7th grade

    year 9-8th grade

    year 10-9th grade

    year 11-10th grade

we can now leave school but some like 6th form (16-18)

    year 12-11th grade

    year 13-12th grade

then...college or university or gap year-travel or do nothing for a year- well there you go.

  7. Nursery/Play School (2-5) Not compulsory

    Junior School (5-7)

    Middle School (7-11)

    Senior School (11-16)

College - Usually lasts 2-3 years and is not compulsory

University - Can do this at any age (usually over 18) again, not compulsory

  8. when you are under 4 years old you are in nursery..

when you are 4/5 years old you start PRIMARY SCHOOL which you stay in for 7 years.

When you are 11/12 years old you move up to SECONDARY SCHOOL where you stay for a minimum of 4 years and the maximum of 6 years.

In first year and second year you study everything.

In third year and fourth year you study and sit an exam for your standard grades.

In fith and sixth year you study Highers.

After you have sat your highers at say, 17/18 years old. you can apply for university of which the average course is 4 years long.

hope this was of some help!   this is the scottish system, not the engish system!  they are a bit different!

  9. be more specific

  10. Nursery, (Lasts one year)

    Reception, (Lasts one year)

    Years 1 - 6 (Primary School)

    Years 7 - 13(Secondary or High School)

    University (Lasts 3 years usually)

Though some people go to a Middle School (Years 7 - 9) though it's quite rare.

Some go to college instead of the last two years of secondary school (sixth form) for the same qualifications (years 12 - 13).

You only need to go to school till GCSEs which is the end of year 11, some people will go to college for different qualifications like vocational ones. These usually aren't seen as good as A-Levels which can be gotten in years 12-13 or at college.

There's also HND at a college or university for if your grades are too low to get into a degree but you have done A-Levels or equavilent. This will let you get into the related degree.
