what I am asking is it safe to do? I keep reading about the negativities...not too many positive things being said. I guess common sense would be considered, seeing as it is 'tied' wouldnt it rupture after time? I need some men out there or their wifes to inform myself about this procedure, I need to know if the dangers out weigh everything. I dont want any obtuse answers, and I want proof from anyone who tells me not too. (oh I'm a 35 year old male in September). thank you.

  1. Good plan.  A vasectomy has no side effects.

Most men get their tubes severed and burned.  This procedure is much more reliable.

I work in a clinic.  I have only ever heard of ruptures in pamphlets left on our door by the same religious groups that picket our office.

  2. there's nothing wrong with a man getting a vasectomy, it is actualy a out patient procedure,  most people who have had this done are only out of work for a day or so.  most of the time the people like to get it done on a friday so they only miss 1 day of work. and as for danger's,   LOL  you dont have to wory theres no danger to a vasectomy. talk to your doctor and he will tell you all about it. it is a very  standard out patient procedure

  3. You need to stop listening or reading urban legend.  Only listen to men that have had vasectomies.  Otherwise it is like asking a person that has been homeless all his or her life about mortgages.

I had a vasectomy when I was 21.  I am now 42, and never had any problem of any kind.  Most of my friends have had them as most of them are over 40.  I was one of the men that never bothered to have children.

No it will not rupture.  Think about it.  Where to the sperm go when you are sexually inactive?  They die and get re-absorbed.  So if the rumors about "ruptures", and stuff where true, then many men in prison, or who are paralyzed, or have untreatable ED due to a heart condition, or whatever, will be having "ruptures" all the time.

I hang with a not of "child-free" people.  That means we don't want children.  Most of us get vasectomies in our 20's.  Don't you think many of us would be suffering effects, if any existed?

One more thing.  Almost half of the men over 40 in the USA have had vasectomies.  That means about 1/2 million each year.  Would they do so if it was so dangerous?

Odds are you own father had one, at some point after your birth.

  4. I got a vasectomy when I was 23..I'll be 38 in Sept. The only ill effects from it was a post op infection. That was a horrible 10 days. My s*****m swelled up the size of a volleyball, and was just as painful as it sounds. After a round of antibiotics, and some serious pain meds the swelling went down and I was back to my old self again, but during that time I sat in a recliner with a bag of ice on my jewels, crying like a baby. I still feel what I went through was far better than asking my wife to go under the knife and having her tubes tied, or all the cancer scares from her being a smoker and using the pill. My procedure was completely effective as we use no other form of bc, and have had no additional children. The doc tied and burned me, and being a fairly typical early 20's guy married  with a couple kids, think that if anything was gonna rupture, it would have done so by now, as let's face it, s*x in our 30's is alot different than s*x in our 20's. After healing up from the procedure, and the complications, I saw no decrease in drive, desire, or anything else, plus we didn't have the worries of an unplanned pregnancy. So I say go for it, but get it done in a sterile operating room not at a doctor's office.
