I'm considering putting in a solid fuel Rayburn/Esse for central heating and cooking....?

and there seems to be a drive for people to use wood as a fuel rather than coal. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both fuels and could anyone recommend any alternatives to Rayburn and Esse. I have considered a Wamsler but was told they make the kitchen very hot.

Use wood,its cheaper to buy than coal and you can always find trees in the forest that have blown down.just take them its for free......
