is it necessary to hire an attorney for legal separation? What are the benefits of hiring one versus trying to come to an agreement on our own? I stay home with our 2 small children and have done so for the past 5 1/2 years.

  1. Research on line regarding separation preparation and prepare to use a lawyer. There will be hidden situations that will be uncovered that a lawyer will help you sort. Good luck and stay observant

  2. If you have been home that long you will want to get an attorney.  If your husband has been in control he might have hidden assets from you in order to keep you submissive and dependent on him.  A good attorney is usually the best route.
