I'm curious, has there ever been a professional football game canceled due to bad weather?

Like blizzards, floods, tornadoes, etc? My friend says no, but I'm sure there had to have been!

  1. Games would be called and have been due to inclement weather that is considered a threat to human life.  As far as I know they are always made up at a later date.  Any threat of Lightning, Tornado's and Hail which can be the size of Golf balls and Baseballs and sometimes even larger are life threatening.  I personally have never heard of a game being canceled and not being made up later.

  2. Well in 05 the Saints didnt play any home games at the superdome - and ended up playing their first "home" game against the giants at Giants stadium.

Green Bay vs. KC on Aug 4, 2003:

Game cancelled at 5:49 of 3rd quarter due to inclement weather conditions.

also these games The last time a game was canceled was September 13, 2001. (in remembrance for 9/11)

The first game of the Houston Astrodome, remember with the Oilers, was canceled. It is kinda funny because they said with the dome they would never need to cancel a game again. Well then the city got flooded and no one could get to the Stadium, including the teams.

    hope that answers your question

  3. Well, no game has been CANCELLED, but quite a few have been postponed, take for example LSUs upcoming game.

  4. The only thing that would stop a football game in progress is lightening. As far as tornadoes and floods, possibly, but the game would get made up right away. But, yeah, the only thing that would halt a game is lightening.

  5. No regular or postseason NFL game has ever been canceled or postponed. It's happened a few times in the preseason but every other game has been finished.
