Question:

I'm curious about the Hubble Constant and the expansion of the universe?

Its not the galaxies flying away from each other but the space in between the galaxies expanding. The Hubble Constant is 7.01 (km/s)/Mpc meaning for every megaparsec 7.01 kilometers of space are created every second. So, space is like microorganism population growth... it grows exponentially because every created unit of space helps create more.

Correct me if any of that is wrong, here are my questions:

Is this what constitutes dark energy or is the idea of space creating more space separate?

If space isn't creating space than that means dark energy is being created along side it otherwise dark energy would be thinning correct?

Since time factors into the creation of space and space is affected by gravity does the growth of space slow down when near massive objects like black holes?

  1. OK, so the Universe is expanding and cooling.  Galaxies and galaxy clusters not gravitationally bound to each other are generally moving away from each other.  This isn't Dark Energy.  This is expansion from the initial event, which i hesitate to call an explosion.

One would expect that the speed at which galaxies move away from each other would slow down, due to mutual gravity.  However, in 1998, it was found that they are moving away from each other faster and faster. This wasn't one of the expected options. That requires some new idea.  And that idea is Dark Energy.  It's not dark because we can't see it.  It's dark because we have no idea what it is.  The best candidate, the quantum foam, is something like one hundred orders of magnitude too small.  Yet it appears to be a property of space.  And the more space you have, the more Dark Energy there is.

And, of course, Dark Matter is something else.  It's needed to account for the speed that galaxies spin.  There must be more mass than we can see, by a large margin. And, it's not Dark because we can't see it.  It's Dark because though we have a long list of things it isn't, we've hardly any idea what it is.

  2.   Space is a quantum entity a unit of minimum size, space itself can't expand so the expansion must be due to space becoming less dense

This means space must finite and can't be in a state of accelerated expansion.

If the assumption is made that all galaxies are in an accelerated state of collapse the light from all galaxies would be red shifted and if you could observe them from the other side they would still be red shifted yet the galaxy would not be itself receeding

  3. you're building speculation upon speculation - i believe it is called a tautology. all sketchy theories with nothing behind them. even the red shift has recently acquired some major problems. any answer you receive can only be based on more speculation.

  4. First of all dark energy is a totaly different subject. It has nothing to do with space creation or space growth. Space is infanit but it does not expand between the galaxies. The galaxies are just flying away from eachother in already created space. Space is however being created on the outside. Meaning space was smaller yesterday than it is today. Matter can not be created of destroyed just transformed into something different. Darkenergy howerver is real and is out there we just can't seem to see it. We know its there because all matter has gravity and gravity warps light rays. So by looking at dark energy we don't see anything but the light rays behinde it are warped thus proving something is there. Space time and black holes are still being debated by some of the greatest minds out there. We still aren't quit clear on what happens. As far as I know the more massive an object is the more it warps space time. The expanding part of the universe doesn't ever interact with things such as black holes. Black holes are formed by a dying star witch takes billions of yeart to happen and by then the expanding part of space will be long gone. There are theries about how space time came to be. Many think matter and dark matter was created at the same time durring the big bang. The big bang of course if the most widly accepted theory of creation and there are actualy theroies of how the big bang came to be. The most current therie I can think of is the M therie. It is the most reasent to the string therie. The reason why the string therory is really not talked about anymore was becaue they could not link the string thorie with the big bang. Basically the string theory is the theory of the existance of everything. It was suppose to explain the meaning of everything AKA the meaning of life. This is the theorie that many belived Einstine was working on just before he died. But unfortunatly as far as I know the string theory is no more. Hope all this helps answer your question.

  5. Dark Energy is a separate issue-- the further out into space we look THE FASTER everything is moving apart. It's like an invisible force (dark energy) is providing a PUSH (acceleration) to everything.
