I'm not on the pill at the moment but when I finish breastfeeding I want to go on the pill. Between october 26th-november 26th ill be stopping and my wedding is on the 24th of january and I would like to use the pill to skip my period. But once breastfeeding has stopped how long will it take to get a period back and do I have to have a period before I can take the pill.

Will It be possible to skip my period for my wedding if I started the pill less than 2 months before?

  1. even after stopping breast feeding it can take a couple of months for your hormones to settle down enough to get a period. There is a safe pill you can use while pregnant or you can get the mirena IUD. I used this and loved it. Why would you short change your baby's health just to get on medication that is elective and there are other options out there?? Not trying to be rude but I don't get that. Breastfeeding far out weighs the importance of the pill. At least in my book it does.

  2. I breast feed and am on the pill.  The brand Errin is safe to use and doesn't interfere with milk production.  As soon as you stop breast feeding your cycle starts again so about 1 month later you will menstruate. Hope this helps.

  3. There is a safe pill you can use while breastfeeding. It has no estrogen. Ask your doctor about it. The only thing with this pill is that you have to take it at exactly the same time every day.

  4. There are tons of benefits to extended breastfeeding of infants and toddlers, my son is three years old and I'm still breastfeeding, it's how nature intended it to be.  For the nine days you will be gone, you don't have to stop, pump and freeze a stash, about a 11 day supply just to give a little surplus if you hit any hiccups coming back home.  Take your pump with you and pump and dump.  It only needs to be done in the morning and maybe again during the night to keep engorge at bay.

When you get back, resume breastfeeding, there are so many benefits to breastfeeding beyond one year, children breastfeed to one year or longer have overall better health and a high IQ then children who are formula feed or only feed for a few months.  You love your child right? Why won't you want him to have the best start in life.

  5. If you want to go on the combined pill you need to wean your baby and go and see a Doctor to get a prescription to get the pill. You can ask all relevant questions at the appointment.

  6. I am currently breastfeeding my 3 week old daughter and I went on the "mini pill" 2 weeks after she was born.  Ask your doctor about it.

It is safe and has no estrogen.
