The deadline for the three schools I've narrowed down is August 9th for registration. And I'm deciding between a public school system, private school system and a Catholic school.

What are your takes on the three?

Money is not a problem.

I grew up in a public school system and loved it.

My husband went through private and Catholic schools.

So...help?

  1. I went to a private Christian grade school and public jr high and high school.

Private schools are more likely to be more advanced educationally.  I went into the public system at 7th grade and was about 2 grade levels ahead of everyone else.  My parents wouldnt let me skip, which was the right decision I feel, so I took almost all advanced classes and still ended up bored.

Catholic schools have a very good reputation for being some of the best educational institutions because they focus so much on learning.

But, keep in mind that once they get older, the private schools are still going to have the same problems with smoking and drugs and all that.

  2. I think tey get the same education wherever they go. There will always be those kids who can not behave and those who can. The teachers are the one's we as parents have to worry about , no matter were they go. My three are in public school and they love it. So good luck and always be there when they need you that's all that counts. The kids depend on thier parents and know one else.

  3. I believe in the public school system if it is well funded.  I attended private school and enrolled my children in public school as I believe that by being in a public school a child learns to be part of a community.

  4. it all depends.

    are the public schools nice?

i don't think catholic one is a good idea,

i've known kids that got screwed up in those schools.

    private might be okay though.

  5. The enrollment of children in private schools undermines the strength and validity of the public school system.

The public school system is a shambles, which is why it needs more serious parents enrolling their children in it, so that we can take more steps towards improving it rather than running away from it.

Send your kids to a private school and they may or may not do well, while everyone else suffers.

But at a kindergarten level I really don't think it matters much...or maybe it matters the most.

  6. I would go for a private school.

I think that in a private school, since you are paying, you can control what your child is being taught.

In a public you can't because it is funded by the state and they tell you what your child learns. In a public you have no control over what your child learns.

In public school they no longer teach the Pledge of Allegiance. To me that is wrong, but because separation of church and state, and public schools are state run. All because God is mentioned.

    This to me is wrong.

So I personally would choose a private school.
