  1. The trick is that both the control box and the drive MUST be in FWD.

The out drive has a brass shift or it could be stainless steel link, this is located right below the splined input shaft, this must be facing straight ahead. You can tell when the prop is turned by hand the shaft will turn.

On the boat side you will see a small channel that the shift link on the out drive slides into,it must be facing straight ahead.

Now lift the drive up and into the gimble housing(the part on the boat) while at the same time keeping pressure on the prop so that the drive stays in FWD.Heavily grease the splined shaft.

You may need to slightly turn the prop to allow the splines to align and the drive will slide right on.The drive may not slide completely tight but as long as you have no more than 1/4" between the drive and the gimble and you have 1/4" of stud coming through then you can tighten the nuts.Tighten so that the drive is drawn evenly on.

Good luck,if you need any more help you can contact me through this site.

  2. Singer is right with 1 exception.  You need to align the engine so the drive shaft will go all the way in.  Although you have not moved the engine itself, everything will usually com out of alignment when an outdrive is removed.
