I'm currently taking BS Information Technology but I want to become a airline Pilot. Can I still be a pilot?

From what I heard, I can still be a n airline pilot after taking up any bachelor of science courses in college. Is it true and how?

  1. ABSOLUTELY! There are many pilots that have degrees in fields completely unrelated to aviation, and there are many more who don't even have college degrees. Yes, a college degree does mean a lot to the airlines, and a degree in aviation will give you a leg up in getting hired, and might make the training process easier for you. But it's not a requirement. All airlines have basic minimum requirements in order to be hired as a pilot. These requirements include, but are not limited to, a commercial pilot certificate (license), appropriate ratings, a medical certificate, and a minimum number of flight hours. College degrees are often listed in the "preferred" column. However, I am not aware of any airlines that specifically require a degree in aviation for their pilots. In short, it should make little difference.


  2. Anyone can be a pilot with enough flight instruction and hours.
