  1. some/ many people with learning disabilities endure a lot of ridicule, and a lot of feelings of stupidity- think twice before cracking casual "what are you, stupid" or "duh" jokes, it may hit a soft spot with them that is stronger than average, equally not too kind to an already potentially damaged ego- but dyslexia does not equal psychopath so don't worry about stuff like that

  2. Dyslexia is a type of learning disablity.  People that have it are just like everyone else.  Just accept them as a person, and don't make fun of them for not being able to read as well as others.

  3. Dyslexia can affect our ability to read, write, spell and do mathematics (which is called dyscalculia).

The main thing is to be patient and encouraging when they are reading or writing, trying to hurry them up will cause frustration, and most likely cause them to make more mistakes etc.

Never ridicule them for poor reading, writing, spelling & mathematic skills (I am sure you wont). But people do and it causes major distress and frustration.

Saying that please don't try and take things off them when they are trying to read especially, when your in a hurry, as they will make them claim up and not try next time.

The link below will give a bit of an idea what a dyslexic sees when trying to read.

  4. That will impact your love life? Uhm...no.

You might not want them to read a recipe to you.

  5. Just know sometimes they don't see the printed word the same way you do -- but for heaven's sake it isn't catching and you don't die from it.
