I'm going to Florida in two days. (Two and a half hour flight) I'm deathly afraid of a hijacking or crash. I have a hundred questions.

1) What are the odds a plane going to Disney World will be hijacked?

2) What are the odds a plane would crash.

3) Would there be an air marshall? (It's AirTran)

  1. Don't be so concerned about something that won't even happen.  I flew from Las Vegas to Virginia, twice, and that was a 3 and a half hour flight!  Just relax and try to enjoy your flight.

  2. one in tenbillion

    one in a billion

    yes

    P.S.  Everything will be fine, just relax and have fun.

  3. i can see why you would be afraid with all the plane hijackings, and plane crashed hitting the news on an hourly basis.

    seriously, dont worry about those things until such time as you dont see anything about them on the front page of the newspaper, or they dont break into the current program to bring you the news of one or the other.

    if you start hearing things like;

    coming up on the news at noon some of the stories we are following;

    today the president announced a new round of tax cuts to help stimulate the economy, supermodel chery tiegs has been admitted into the hospital after passing out on the runway. jim what is going on in the sports world today?

    well the dodgers have won again and are on their way to the playoffs, along with the diamond backs on their heels, the 49ers picked up randy moss as a free agent signing him to a 5 million dollar one year contract, back to you jane.

    and a story that we are working on for the 11pm news, 2 747's crashed today in downtown los angeles, there are 800 known dead, and thousands injured, many seriously. we should have pictures on the 11pm newscast.

    or when you get to the classified section of the paper and see a two inch column with the same information, then you can start to worry about these things.

  4. none it's more dangerous on the road then on an airplane so just enjoy your flight man

  5. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightning walking from your car to the terminal than being involved in a hijacking or crash.

  6. The odds against the things you are worried about happening are really astronomical.  It won't happen.  Just enjoy thinking ahead to what you will do when you get there.  You'll be there before you know it, and all perfectly safe.

    If it never happened to me in 35 years of professional flying, it won't happen to you in one 2-1/2 hour flight.

  7. You're going to be just fine.  The odds are just about zero.  You are much more likely to die driving to the airport.  There may or may not be an air marshal on board.  You won't know.  Seriously, people fly every single day...there are thousands of flights in the US.  They pretty much NEVER get hijacked and never crash.  Bring some tunes and something to read.  Sometimes you will feel 'turbulence' where the plane gets bumpy.  This is totally normal and nothing to worry about.  It's just like traveling in a car on a bumpy road.  Chill.

  8. Dude CHILL...its people like you who scare more people. Grow up. How old are you? You are so much more worse off on the way to the airport in the car than in any plane.

    Watch, this this will get him going.

    Hey did you know that Airtran is really Valujet!....The everglades. eh eh eh

  9. Your chances of dying in an accident on the way to the airport is many times greater than anything that will happen on the plane. Staying home in bed is about as dangerous as air travel, possibly more so.

  10. I would say your chances are slim to none. You are more likely to die on the road, then in the air.

    1.) Consider how many people are carjacked to hijacked?

    2.) Consider the amount of road fatalities to sky deaths

    3.) I doubt there is a sky marshall....

    Just get on the plane, Relax.....
